How did you get into this industry?

I began my career in technology as a software developer eager to learn and grow. A transformative experience came when I volunteered to lead a complex project, which pushed me beyond my comfort zone and revealed my strengths in collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership. This moment sparked my passion not only for creating impactful technology but also for building and leading high-performing teams, shaping the path of my career ever since.

What were some of the pivotal moments in your career that helped you get to where you are today?

One of the most defining chapters in my career was returning to the industry after a mid-career break. Reentering a rapidly evolving tech landscape and reskilling in the latest technologies was both challenging and humbling. Yet, it was in this period of transition that I developed some of my most valuable leadership traits — empathy, perseverance, and a strong commitment to continuous learning.

Another pivotal moment was embracing servant leadership. Shifting my focus from managing tasks to empowering people transformed my approach. These moments, though not easy, were truly transformative. As I often reflect: “True leadership is measured not by authority, but by the positive impact we create in others.”

Have you ever noticed a time in your career where your gender proved to differentiate you?

Often the only woman in the room, I’ve never let gender define me. Instead, I lean into empathy, composure, and collaboration — qualities that help me build strong teams and lead with resilience and purpose. Whether shaped by life experience or my identity, these strengths have been key to my career journey so far.

What is your advice for someone working in a predominately male workplace?

“Your voice matters -speak up, build your network, and create space not just for yourself, but for those who come after you”. In moments where you may feel like the only one, remember your presence is already powerful. Use it to lead, to inspire, and to pave the way forward.

What do you think companies could do to motivate more women to pursue careers in technology?

“Empowering women in tech unlocks not just talent, but transformative leadership.” Motivating women in technology requires more than good intentions; it demands deliberate action. Inclusive hiring, mentorship, returnship programs, visible role models, and flexible policies are essential to create genuine opportunities for women to thrive.
